Shankar's International Dolls Museum

"Shankar's International Dolls Museum A Dreamland for Kids"

A doll is a girl's best friend. She shares her every secret with her doll and speaks her heart out whenever she likes. A doll is the first toy in a girl's life that reflects her own behavior.

Perhaps this implication of a doll in a girl's life is the reason behind the international identification of the Doll's Museum in Delhi.

Shankar's International Dolls Museum

This museum was established in 1965 and is nothing less than a dreamland for kids. It is the largest Dolls Museum in India spreading over 5184 square feet area.

The inception of this museum was conceptualised by K. Shankar Pillai- a known political cartoonist by profession. Hence, the name of this museum is Shankar's Dolls Museum. At present there are more than 6700 exhibits from 85 nations.

There are two sections of the museum- the first one is dedicated to show the collection from Europe, US, New Zealand and Australia, while the other one is to exhibit dolls from the Asian countries including India.

The Indian contribution counts up to 500 unique dolls all dressed up in Indian outfits worn all over the country. Some dolls are there that portray the various dance forms of India.
